I was invited to participate in a show called Think Small which takes place every year in Richmond VA and displays work no bigger than 3X3 inches.\u00a0 I thought I’d do something with bees and this is what I came up with.<\/p>\n

It’s two bees touching heads.\u00a0 They’re roughly 1 inch from wing to wing.\u00a0 This is it in red wax:<\/p>\n

After I was happy with the wax sculpture I took it to a jeweler, Tito Castings in NYC, who proceeded to make a silicone mold and pour it in silver.<\/p>\n

I bought a small glass dome, from glassdomes.com, and I’m going to attempt to drill a tiny hole in the top.\u00a0 I want the bees to be hanging suspended in the dome.\u00a0 Hopefully I will have some photographs of the finished piece soon.<\/p>\n

I think this was\u00a0 a good test for the larger more complicated Bee Flower sculpture I’m still laboriously laboring over.\u00a0 I really didn’t think the legs and antenna would come out, but Tito Castings did a beautiful job.\u00a0 I’ve completed two petals for one flower, the end is no where near in sight.<\/p>\n
